How do i make my aquarium fish (guppies) mate?

Hi folks, i got a couple guppies and 2 mollies. Mollies are good at mating, they make out everyday! The thing is that my female guppy does not wanna have sex at all, whenever the male one gets horny and wants to mate, she ignores him and gets away from him. So what's the deal, what should i do. What am i gonna do to treat them? Put viagra pills in the aquarium? LOL! Thank u for ur time.

  1. Lots of floating plans will help for your prob.
  2. No worries mate! The male guppies are very persistent, and you will have babies shortly. What they say about breeding guppies is "just add water". So be patient and nature will take its course! If you really are worried, start completeing 25% water changes daily for a week, and get the temp up to 80F. That usually makes the fish "frisky"....It's nature's Viagra. lol
  3. You gotta show them how its done. Know what I mean?
  4. more plants and more females you should have 3 -4 females to one male that way he getds to choose and one female wont be pestered all the time and not want to be near him. and also you will end up with more tha one female pregnant. hope this helps
  5. I think that MATING is the one thing we don't have to teach to guppies. They are at it all the time, they eat and mate. Don't worry, your female will be fertilized or is already. Can it be that your female is still too young?
  6. There are a few things that could happen: 1. Get a better ratio of males to females so that there is a higher chance of breeding. I'd say around either 1 male / 2 female, or 1 male / 3 female. 2. A lot of the time when you buy females they are already pregnant, so that is a way there could be babies. 3. As someone else said, mating is definitely no problem for guppies. Its just what they do. The male will continue if there is no other females, and you will have her pregnant soon. Try getting a better ratio of male to female, and you'll be guaranteed babies. And, make sure you have a big enough tank, because i know that guppies can store the sperm for about 5 births, at 20-60 fry each. You would probably need a second tank (like maybe a 10 gallon) to raise the fry.
  7. you got some defective guppies all you have to do with gupppies is add water and the will breed
