Aquarium Fish?
Okay, so im going aquarium shopping, and I'm going to get somwhere between an 60-100 litre tank. It will be freshwater, and coldwater varieties of fish. It will be my first tank, that i have managed by myself, and i am wondering what to put in it. I do NOT want goldfish!!!! Yes, they are sold as beginerfish, which theyre not, and plus they shit everywhere. So can you list some kinds of FRESHWATER, COLDWATER fish, to put in my tank, and any other info u wanna put down. Thank alot! oXoXoXo Yeah, I agree with you, Me and my fish, we have a great filter, and god they make so much mess!

- Minnows are about the only other fish that enjoy cold water. A heater isn't that expensive and opens up a whole world of possiblities for fish. You'll need to spend about 4 to 6 weeks cycling the tank before you add fish so it will give you lots of time to think about what kinds you want to get. **
- Keep in mind that with cold water fish you still need a heater as they need consistent temperature of about 68-72 degrees. Also you will want to run you're aquarium for a couple of weeks before you add any fish. Test the water and when the water is balanced you can get 2-3 fish. This is called cycling the water. You want to do water changes ever couple days ( about 1/3 of the water). After another couple weeks you can get a few more fish. Some good starter species would be Zebra Danios, platys, guppies, mollies, tetras. These are all schooling fish and are best in groups of 3 or more. And as a side note. All fish **** everywhere. If this makes you unhappy, you should not get fish.
- Platies, Mollies, Guppies, One or two bala sharks (they can get pretty big), Gouramis, tetras, glowfish, swordfish (I personally like these a lot) or cichlids. Just to name a few. I own or have previously owned most of these and had no problems with any of the listed fish. Good luck and have fun!
- buy a heater. all fish benefit from constant water temperature 24-27degrees C, Freshwater fish are much hardier then marine fish so you really only have to cycle for two days. And if you want your aquarium to look stunning, coldwater fish just don't cut it. Id advise to get angelfish, A school of neon tetras, 5 or more tiger barbs or other barb variety, some catfishes(to keep tank clean) and platie or mollies. Also add timber and plants for a natural effect. Timber can be collected from rivers, dams or creeks and soaked in water with carbon for a few weeks.
