- Wouldn't bother. Windows 7 is nearly here.
- Well you wouldnt need to buy xp, if it used to work on vista all you need to do is format it and reinstall vista. But i wouldnt buy xp and go for windows 7 when it releases
- yea, why buy an 8 year old operating system when there's a newer and better one. I don't think that problem has anything to do with your operating system. It's most likely due to a hardware problem. Check your graphics card, reinstall drivers if necessary.
- It happend due to low memory RAM & Video card. Are you using any Graphics card? Use graphics card of nVIDIA of 512mb.
- Better is a matter of opinion. If vista and 7 were truly better why would Microsoft extend the life of XP well into the next decade? I would go for a reinstall for vista or failing that try another GPU
- you can't buy xp in a shop anyway or from the microsoft website. use system retore to help you restore you comp back to when the games were working.
- You can always repair your vista using the Diagnostic Tool included on your Vista Installation DVD. Just insert the DVD and follow the instructions. Alternately, you can reinstall your DirectX 9.0 / 10.0 files (through the safe mode).
- hi jakub yes it would,in my honest and experienced opinion windows vista should be put on a boat and sailed out the sea about 300 miles out and blown into a million peices(get the jist) yes, windows vista has been nothing but trouble for me,continuous desktop freezes and incompatibility, and thats even after installing service pack 1 however when i reverted to windows xp i have experience no problems and all games will run ok,plus nvidia and ati still fully support windows xp drivers for their products the only downside is you wont be able to use any direct x 10 supported effects in games, however this wont affect the gameplay and to be honest theres not a massive difference between dx9 and dx10 game performance, infact in some games you can get up to 10fps extra when compared to windows vista frame rates installation : if your pc has run windows vista then it will run windows xp without any problems at all, however you will need to install xp from boot,so in other words restart the pc,then make sure the bios is set to boot from cd/dvd first, then save any changes in the bios then when the pc restarts you will see the message "press any key to boot from cd/dvd" press any key to begin installation, then when the main set up screen appears remember to highlight the main system drive and delete this, you will then see just "unallocate space",then create a new partition by pressing "c" and this will be your system or boot drive you need to delete and then create as this will remove the windows vista os and create a fresh partition,as any old files wont do you any favours then continue as you would with any normal windows xp installation, and then download the latest nvidia or ati drivers ,also remember to update your direct x runtime files aswell windows xp can be bought for £63.19 inc. VAT from http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Software/Operating+Systems/Microsoft+Windows+XP+Home+OEM+SP3?productId=25139,however this is a O.E.M copy (original equipement manufactuer) and basically means theres less support and warranty than the upgrade or full versions, but as long as you have a decent knowledge of pc,s and windows you should have no problems, and the oem copys of windows are popular with system builders as they need a cheaper copy of windows to install in their systems i hope this helps, any problems let me know good luck mate !
