Direct 3d not working how can i fix it?

I have a new windows vista computer and i screwed the direct 3d up putting on a game now screensavers wont work and any game that came out after like 2001 wont work either ive searched the internet for answers but it yielded nothing im looking for a free and easy way to fix it

2. If you have not loaded two many personal programs on to your new computer yet, I suggest you do a factory restore, it will be a lot quicker than trying to find an update for the Direct 3D driver,just confer with the manual and follow the step by step instruction.
