  1. A Corydoras catfish would be ideal. They help to keep the tank clean and they have very thick, rough skin,so the betta could not hurt it. Of course, you'll need a good filter. You might want to think about getting a larger tank later as well,as cory cats can grow quite large.
  2. i keep mine with an apple snail but spoil your betta let him/her have his/her own tank to him/her self
  3. I would suggest a bottom feeder.. read this link for cool info/trivia about Bettas... its good info for you to know as an owner. http://www.gomestic.com/Pets/Everything-You-Want-to-Know-About-Betta-Fish-But-Were-Afraid-to-Ask.75754
  4. a corydoras catfish owuld be perfect !!!
  5. I would suggest Panda or Albino Corie's (these are two of my fave, there are more different species of Corie's) Corie's do not get huge, they get to be about 3', very peaceful critters. Your Betta should be fine with 2 Corie's in a 5 gallon hexagon tank, I would suggest not to put any more in that size though. Enjoy ;)
  6. Hi. Ultimately it will depend on the temperament of your Betta, as every Betta will have his own personality. The rule of thumb is to avoid flashy fish with long fins that will make your Betta think that another Betta is in the tank with him. Personally, I've had good success with Bettas and Neon Tetras before. Granted, this was in an Eclipse System 6 tank which would have more space per level (bottom, mid, top) than a hexagon 5 gallon. But that combination could work in the 5 gallon. Hope that helps! :)
  7. a betta should have 5 gallons to himself so my advice just get him a snail to help clean if you wanna put him with cories got a 8-10 gallon tank
  8. Cories are schooling fish, so I wouldn't recommend just 1, or even 2. A mollie prefers the same temp range, 78-82 F, so would be a good choice. Except that both are essentially top level fish. Maybe not so good. Most small fish are schooling fish, but, My suggestion would be to scratch the Betta and get a trio of A. gardneri killifish or 3 male guppies. Although shrimp aren't fish, there are several species/variations that would look nice, and you could put in 2-3.
