If you want safe screensavers look for a trusted brand and a site that clearly displays 'terms of use' and a 'privacy policy'. Read these and any End User License Agreement (EULA). Scan any downloads with a reliable spyware checker and virus checker. I presume you are looking for free screensavers. There are many available that offer a good piece of software without any malware or pop-ups. However, you must remember that almost all of these screensavers are free so the company can market and promote their products and brands. FunUtilities.com seems to be a reputable site.
