What software to use for Mac Screensavers?

What software would someone use to make screensavers for Mac systems?

  1. My two favourites are a digital camera and a flatbed scanner. But, any image creation / editing program works well, too. Screensavers are merely large (screen sized) JPG, PNG, or other common image file formats. And Windows, OS X or Linux, it simply doesn't matter, either.
  2. I'm not sure which app you use to create a screensaver in the more standard .saver format, but you can use Quartz Composer to make screensavers in the .qtz format. Once installed, both formats are available in the Screensaver pane of System Preferences. Quartz Composer is available in the Developer Tools, which are on your Mac OS install disk, or on Apple's developer website, http://developer.apple.com A good resource for quartz screensavers is: http://www.quartzcompositions.com/ I have downloaded several from that site, and also made some of my own.
